The warning comes following reports that some people were treating symptoms of Mpox as witchcraft and seeking native divination or herbal remedies

While the district has recorded one confirmed case of Mpox, 24 suspected cases are currently isolated in various health units across the district.

The patient, a 12-year-old South Sudanese girl whose name is being withheld, tested positive for the virus after samples were sent to the Central Emergency Response and Surveillance Laboratory.

The new health protocols are expected to be distributed to schools across the country in the coming days, accompanied by a circular that outlines specific measures to be implemented.

With Mpox cases spreading to new countries and a CFR between 3% and 4%, the situation is becoming increasingly urgent, particularly for nations with limited healthcare resources.
