No Roadmap Yet, says Tanga Odoi
The Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission, TANGA Odoi, has refuted speculation regarding an alleged roadmap for the party's future.
Odoi clarified that no official roadmap has been established yet, amid rumours of internal discord within the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
He dismissed any claims of a roadmap being in place, asserting that discussions on the matter are premature.
"There’s no CEC meeting that has met or can meet without the Chairman and the Vice Chairman, Hajji Moses Kigongo. If it does, it must be delegated," Odoi said.
This comment underscores the NRM's commitment to procedural transparency within its leadership.
His remarks align with those of the NRM Secretary General, who has also stressed that the party remains united and is preparing to unveil a roadmap soon.
“We are waiting to call a meeting where I will table the roadmap for CEC ratification,” Odoi explained, indicating that discussions are still in progress and nothing has been finalised.
Addressing concerns of internal friction, Odoi stated, "As a party, we are harmonizing structures first before anything. We need to renew all our structures, which have expired, before we can actualize the roadmap."
This reinforces the NRM's focus on restructuring and fortifying its internal framework before advancing with any formal plans.
The clarification comes at a critical time, as party members and the public express concerns about the direction the NRM is taking.
While some speculate about possible tensions, Odoi's reassurance suggests that the party leadership is working diligently behind the scenes to maintain unity.
In conclusion, Tanga Odoi's statements reflect the NRM’s dedication to internal cohesion and careful planning.
While discussions of a roadmap are ongoing, the party is prioritising structural renewal and preparation before any official steps are taken.
