The National Resistance Movement (NRM) is set to restart its strategic roadmap activities after a five-month pause due to logistical and administrative challenges.

In preparation for the 2026 general elections, the party plans to spend over shs7 billion  to rejuvenate its operations.

Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, NRM's Director of Information and Publicity, confirmed that the required funds have been secured.

"We are ready to resume our roadmap activities. This includes the election of party structures, the computerization of our register, and the registration of members who missed the previous process," Dombo stated.

The suspension of activities since March 2024 had left NRM members across the country uncertain about the party's preparations for the elections.

Financial constraints and administrative issues had delayed key activities.

Dombo reassured members and potential candidates that, with the new funding, the roadmap will proceed without any further delays.

"We encourage all interested candidates to prepare for the elections and fill the party structures at various levels," he added.

The NRM also plans to address gaps in its member registration.

"We will ensure that those who missed the previous registration are included, and we aim to expand our current membership base, which stands at 18 million," Dombo emphasized.

As the NRM prepares for the 2026 elections, the focus remains on building a comprehensive and updated computerized register, positioning the party to achieve its electoral goals with renewed energy.
