Buganda Kingdom to intensify mobilisation for Liberation Day

Buganda’s head for Buwekula County (Luwekula), Andrew Mukasa Ssempijja, has vowed to intensify mobilisation efforts to ensure a massive turnout from the people of Buwekula at the first-ever NRM Liberation Day celebration in Mubende District.
Ssempijja expressed his appreciation to the National Organising Committee for including Buganda chiefs in the planning team for the Liberation Day celebrations. “I want to thank the organisers for prioritising our office,” said Ssempijja.

In his commitment, Ssempijja pledged to mobilise the people of Buwekula to attend the event in large numbers. “My team and I will make sure we mobilise people to come and witness this historic national celebration,” he added.
Mubende District Woman Member of Parliament, Hope Grania Nakazibwe, assured Ugandans that Mubende is fully prepared to host the celebrations and is only waiting for the big day.
“I want to assure you and the country at large that we are very ready to host His Excellency the President on January 26 as NRM marks 39 years since it took over power in 1986,” said Nakazibwe.
Nakazibwe, who was also chosen as the co-Master of Ceremonies, described it as an opportunity to address Mubende’s concerns directly to the President.
“It has been unusual for national events to allow leaders from the host area to act as Masters of Ceremonies, but this time, we have been given a chance, and we shall use it to present our needs to the President,” she noted.
She also commended the district and municipality for their collaboration in rehabilitating alternative routes in preparation for the event.
“Last week, we had a big issue with road maintenance equipment, but that is no longer a challenge. All alternative routes are now in good condition,” Nakazibwe added.
