Government has urged all construction companies to consider environmental sustainability while coming up with their plan of constructions.

Minister for works and transport Gen. Katumba Wamala said that constructors should take precaution while doing their plans for buildings to make sure that environment is protected and they hire experts.

“This also involves those who are dealing in construction materials, they have to look for another alternative because some of the materials affects the environment especially sand, bricks and stones,” he said.

He made the remarks during the warding ceremony for the best building companies which was organized by the National Building Review Board held at Munyonyo Speke Hotel .

The permanent Secretary of the NBRB Flavia Bwire said that several companies listed but many failed due to missing gaps on how they operate.

“The voting was based on having good plans, protecting the environment , and using qualified engineers . One of the best company is the one which constructed the Children Surgical Hospital Entebbe,” she said
