Kitagwenda Private Schools Urged to Embrace Registration for Recognition
Kitagwenda DEO Sedas Asiimwe

Private schools in Kitagwenda District have been called upon to register and obtain licenses with the Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) for official recognition and potential access to government support.

Speaking to the headteachers of private schools during a meeting on Friday at the district headquarters, the District Education Officer (DEO), Sedas Asiimwe, emphasised the importance of compliance with government policies.

“As a district, we appreciate the role private schools play in providing education services. However, for these efforts to be officially recognised, all schools must abide by the government policy of registering and licensing with the Ministry of Education and Sports,” Asiimwe said.

He further highlighted that the registration process has been simplified through an online system introduced by the MOES, which will streamline the process starting next year.

“The Ministry has made the registration process easier by initiating an online system. Schools will now be able to access registration services digitally, and beginning next year, all schools will be required to register through this system,” Asiimwe explained.

The DEO reiterated that registration not only ensures recognition but also positions schools to benefit from potential government aid and support.

“The government values the contributions made by private schools in advancing education and sees the private sector as a key partner. Compliance with registration requirements is essential for building a collaborative relationship with the government,” he added.

The call comes as part of the district’s efforts to ensure that all educational institutions operate within the law while promoting quality education for learners.
