Kole DISO Musiila Dies in Car Accident in Kiryandongo
Accident

Simon Peter Musiila, the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) of Kole, tragically died in a motor vehicle accident on Monday evening in Kiryandongo District.

The incident occurred in Kaduku 2 village, Masindi Port Sub-county, when Musiila, driving a Toyota Hilux with registration number UG 4543C, lost control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp bend.

The vehicle veered off the road, overturned multiple times, and Musiila was killed instantly. At the time of the accident, he was traveling alone from Masindi town, en route to Masindi Port Ferry Station to continue his journey to Kole District.

A resident of Kaduku 2 village, Rogers Otwi, reported hearing a loud bang and immediately rushed to the scene.

"We heard the noise of the vehicle like an accident and upon reaching the site, we confirmed that it had indeed happened. There was only one person in the vehicle, but we didn’t know him. We alerted the police, and they responded promptly," Otwi said.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that the body of the deceased was transported to Kiryandongo General Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

"Our team is still on the ground investigating, but it seems over-speeding was a likely cause of the accident. The vehicle wreckage has been towed to Kaduku Police Station," Hakiza added.
