Ugandan interior designers launch association to sanitise industry
A section of Uganda’s interior design community has launched the Interior Design Association Uganda (IDAU).
The event, held at Next Media Park in Kampala, brought together 22 founding members and over 120 designers in support of the association’s mission to establish standards and provide a collaborative network.

The association aims at unifying and professionalizing a historically fragmented industry.
Lilian Kiwanuka, the president of the Interior Design Association Uganda (IDAU), stated that their coming together to create a body aims to help the industry grow as a unified body.
“This is a significant step forward to elevate standards and increase recognition for interior designers,” added Maureen Otyek, the association’s vice president.
The leaders encouraged interior designers across Uganda to join IDAU, emphasizing that unity within the sector is essential for progress.
IDAU’s leaders envision a near future with 500 members, elevating the role of interior design in enhancing living spaces and quality of life across Uganda.
