Police in Kibaale District have launched an investigation into the murder of Margret Night, a 62-year-old resident of Busana village, whose body was discovered in a nearby bush on Monday morning.
Night was killed on Sunday night under unclear circumstances, and no arrests have yet been made, though rumors suggest the crime may be linked to a land dispute.

Julius Hakiza, the police spokesperson for the Albertine region, confirmed the ongoing investigation and said that while no suspects have been apprehended, authorities are pursuing leads.
“We were informed about the murder, and our officers responded quickly, but the crime scene had already been compromised, making it difficult for our canine unit to track the culprits.
We encourage anyone with information about the incident to come forward. There are rumors of a land conflict being involved, but we are still verifying this,” Hakiza explained. The body was transported to the hospital for further examination.
Stephen Barirora, chairperson of Busana village, described the gruesome discovery of Night’s body, which showed multiple bruises and wounds, particularly on the neck.
He recalled seeing her alive at the village trading center on Sunday. “Margret was a well-liked woman in the community. It’s shocking to find her dead, especially since she was last seen going to church.
The injuries on her body clearly suggest foul play,” Barirora stated.
Peter Bisoborwa, the deputy Resident District Commissioner for Kibaale, condemned the rise in violence over personal disputes, urging the public to seek lawful ways of resolving conflicts.
“Even if you have disagreements, you have no right to take someone’s life. We are seeing an increase in cases where people are killed over land disputes or family issues. I urge anyone facing challenges to seek help from the police or other relevant authorities. Remember, if you are found guilty of murder, the punishment is life imprisonment,” Bisoborwa warned.
As the investigation continues, authorities are appealing for any information that might help bring Night’s killers to justice.
