Uganda's artillery troops urged to guard country with pride
The Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt Gen Sam Okiding has urged soldiers to fully grasp Uganda’s political landscape and the broader geopolitical environment.
He stated, “A soldier who does not understand the politics of their country and the world is a potential threat.”

Okiding, was Speaking at the conclusion of a week-long political and ideological orientation for Artillery personnel undergoing the Level III Man Course at the School of Artillery and Air Defence in Olilim, Katakwi District.
Lt Gen Okiding highlighted the importance of enhancing soldiers’ political awareness.
He reminded the troops of their pivotal role in protecting Uganda’s sovereignty.
“Uganda is a beautiful country, admired by many. If you don’t protect it zealously, bad actors will destroy it," he said.
The Deputy Chief of Defence Forces also urged soldiers to stand firm against corruption, warning that it undermines public trust and must be eradicated at all costs.
Present at the event were Col Dr Kitwara, Commandant of SAAD, Lt Col Asaba, Director of Political Commissar Land Force, along with facilitators and officers.
