The Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Rose Namayanja Nsereko, has urged leaders to prioritize job creation and wealth generation for the youth and ordinary citizens in their communities.

Speaking during a tour of Exquisite Solutions Limited, a leading communications service provider, Namayanja emphasized the critical role leaders must play in addressing Uganda’s unemployment crisis.

“Leaders must use their positions and networks to attract organizations that can provide jobs for our unemployed youth. This is key to tackling the unemployment challenge in this country,”

Namayanja said. She called on leaders to take an active role in lobbying for employment opportunities, particularly for young people struggling to find work.

Namayanja’s remarks came during a fact-finding mission with a delegation of leaders from Luwero District, who visited Exquisite Solutions to explore how Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) could be implemented in their region, including Nakaseke and Nakasongola districts.

Namayanja noted that BPO has the potential to create numerous jobs for the youth due to its shift-based nature, which can accommodate both day and night workers.

“This initiative aligns perfectly with President Museveni’s vision for socio-economic transformation through the service and ICT sectors,” she added.

During her tour, Namayanja also visited Blue Swan Enterprise, a company founded by the Anglican Church that manufactures small-scale products like toilet paper and liquid soap in Namugongo.

She praised the church for its involvement in production activities, highlighting the importance of churches engaging in economic ventures rather than solely relying on donations from worshippers.

“You are a good example to the Christians and other denominations. Other church leaders should learn to teach people to produce goods for money,” Namayanja said.

The tour underscores Namayanja’s commitment to fostering socio-economic transformation through initiatives that encourage job creation and wealth building, particularly in underdeveloped regions like Luwero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola.

Leaders were encouraged to harness opportunities in sectors like BPO and small-scale manufacturing to uplift their communities.
