Mufti Mubaje calls for interfaith harmony and gratitude in Isingiro sermon
The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has urged Muslims to foster good relations with people of other faiths and to embrace gratitude in their daily lives.
He delivered this message during a sermon in Kyera Village, Isingiro District, on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of unity for national development.
Mubaje also called for support for the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council’s (UMSC) efforts to promote unity within the Muslim community.
He warned of the dangers of ingratitude, particularly among the wealthy who fail to give alms, highlighting that neglecting charity can lead to dissatisfaction despite material wealth.
The Mufti encouraged Muslims to reflect on the many blessings they enjoy, such as physical faculties like sight and movement, which are often taken for granted until they are lost.
He stressed the importance of expressing gratitude to Allah daily through prayer, stating, "Let man look at his human body faculties—the eyes, hands, legs, and all other parts. He hardly knows how useful they are until he loses the limbs to disability."
The event featured speeches from UMSC Secretary General Hadji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi and Muslim Women Council National Chairperson Sophie Safina Kenyangi, who discussed community development and women's affairs.
Sheikh Kaabu Lule, Kadhi of Kabale Muslim District, shared a historical account of the host family's lineage, tracing it back to early Muslim converts who fled Buganda during the religious wars.
