Nyakasura launches mobilisation drive ahead of centenary celebrations
As Nyakasura School approaches its 100-year anniversary, the school’s alumni and management launched a fundraising campaign today, September 13 at Protea Hotel in Kampala.
The campaign aims to mobilise funds for the centenary celebrations scheduled for 2026.
The event attracted several notable alumni, including politicians, business leaders, ministers, and members of the judiciary.
During the event, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr Samuel Kazimba, who served as the chief guest, encouraged attendees to remain hopeful in all their endeavours.
“There is hope at the end of the rope. The Bible says no one can fall and not rise again, and I believe this is the right time,” he remarked while officiating the launch of the fundraising drive.
Mr Samuel Kazooba, chairman of the Finance Committee of Nyakasura Alumni, expressed his gratitude to the Archbishop, who is also the patron of all Church of Uganda schools, for his continuous support, particularly in the church’s projects. He noted that merchant codes have been introduced to make the fundraising process easier.
Rev Richardson Balinda, the headmaster of Nyakasura School, provided a brief history of the institution and called on the government to offer additional support to the school.
In his speech, Hon. Aston Kajara, a former student of Nyakasura School, urged the government to prioritise extending support to rural schools, such as Nyakasura, to ensure they thrive.
To facilitate fundraising for the centenary celebrations, the alumni have implemented various options, including the use of MoMo codes through Equity Bank, among others.
