Trust Ubos to deliver census result - Bunyoro premier Byakutaga
Bunyoro Premier Andrew Byakutaga wants his people to believe in the integrity of Ubos

Shortly after being counted at his home in Rwenkobe Village in Hoima City, Bunyoro Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaga rallied the people of the kingdom to embrace the census exercise, which he says will help the government in planning.

"I have just been counted, there is been myths that these questions take a lot of time, it's roughly been about 30 minutes, and it's confidential," he said.

"This is the only way government can plan for us well, so let's embrace the exercise, by other way they even ask for clans, so this will also help us as a kingdom," Byakutaga added.

The Bunyoro premier also asked the people to have trust in government agencies mandated to do certain activities.

"When these institutions are created, they are meant to serve us, so let's embrace them because I have heard some people don't trust them with their data," he said.

"These people are professional, and they take oath of secrecy not to reveal anyone information."

The UBOS census commissioner in charge of Hoima, Junda Nuwagaba, said the exercise in most parts had been affected by technology as most machines have failed to respond.

"Our people were up in time, but the exercise has been hindered by technology, most tablets are still failing to connect, but let's hope day two will be a successful one," he said.

Census, which is the counting of people and their properties, has started today across the country and is expected to last for 10 days.
