Masaka Mayor Florence Namayanja has urged individuals lacking moral integrity to refrain from participating in the National Unity Platform's (NUP) ongoing registration drive within the city.

Speaking at a press conference, Mayor Namayanja stressed the importance of upholding ethical standards within the party ranks. The NUP leadership in Masaka initiated the registration drive, deploying designated registrars who braved heavy rain to ensure prompt enrollment of party members across various villages.

Despite challenging weather conditions, registrars donned party attire and diligently traversed the streets, determined to enlist every eligible member. Esther Mutoni, tasked with registration in Kimanya A village, reported a successful first day, stating, "I have so far registered 68 members. If it wasn't raining, I would have registered more." Sylvia Nabukenya, overseeing registration in Kimanya B, echoed the sentiment, expressing satisfaction with the progress made. "People have shown us their love for the party and they were the ones who were calling us," she said.

Party members echoed their commitment to the registration process, highlighting its significance in shaping the outcome of the 2026 elections. "We are very sure that in 2026 our president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu will win and we are still hopeful that we will go in 'ENTEBBE MU NTEBBE' come 2026 general elections," one member stated. ("Entebbe mu Ntebbe" translates to "State House to State House," signifying a potential NUP victory.)

However, Mayor Namayanja issued a stern warning. She urged individuals lacking moral integrity to refrain from participating in the registration process to avoid sullying the party's reputation. Emphasizing the need for ethical standards, she cautioned against any attempts to compromise the party's integrity. "You cannot be a NUP member who fights others, disrupts meetings, or speaks against the party," she declared.

Namayanja assured the implementation of a thorough screening mechanism after registration. This process aims to remove any illegitimate registrants from the party register in Masaka. Additionally, she outlined the NUP membership criteria and reiterated the one-month timeframe for registration. By emphasizing that those absent from the party's voter register would be ineligible for party privileges, Namayanja underscored the importance of maintaining the party's integrity and reputation.

The NUP registration drive in Masaka continues amidst Mayor Namayanja's call for ethical standards. This call signals a commitment to ensuring the party remains a bastion of integrity and principled leadership.
