HIV testing: Your eyes can't tell sero status, youngsters told
By Bridget Nsimenta
HIV/AIDS is here, beware... Uganda Young Positives, an organisation creating awareness of the dangers of assuming one's HIV status based on appearance alone.
The post on their X account underscored a common yet flawed perception: "Most times we laugh in public but cry in silence.
Taking life for granted by testing one's HIV status by the eyes may leave you in a situation you can never explain for the rest of your life."
The organization, which advocates for the rights and well-being of young people living with HIV, emphasized the importance of regular testing.
They reminded the public that HIV status cannot be determined by looks and urged everyone to "webereremu" (be aware) and get tested.
"HIV testing is free," the post declared, highlighting the accessibility of this critical health service.
The campaign, under the banner "Berra steady," encourages individuals to be proactive about their health and avoid making assumptions about others or themselves.
Uganda Young Positives' call to action serves as a crucial reminder of the ongoing struggle against HIV/AIDS.
By promoting awareness and encouraging testing, the organization aims to reduce stigma and ensure that all individuals know their status.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster a supportive environment where people can live openly and without fear, regardless of their HIV status
Through their powerful message, Uganda Young Positives continues to advocate for a more informed and compassionate society, urging everyone to prioritise their health and that of others.
