This  year's edition of the Miss and Mr.  Tourism Kigezi beauty pageant  has been in a bid to  amplify the region's tourist attraction.

This year marks the 9th edition for the Miss category and the third for the Mr. category.

During a stakeholder's dinner hosted at White Horse Inn Kabale, Faith Ainembabazi, the coordinator for this year's pageantry, unveiled the ambitious plans for the upcoming event.

She expressed gratitude for the unwavering support received from all essential stakeholders, attributing past successes to their collaborative efforts.

Ainembabazi underscored the paramount objective of this year's competition as one that aims to get  exemplary tourism ambassadors who not only showcase Kigezi's natural splendor but also embody its rich cultural heritage and values.

Dickson Katana, the Southern Sector Warden for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park  urged the stakeholders to arm themselves with accurate and compelling information to effectively market Uganda's diverse and enchanting tourism offerings.

“I want to call on all tourism stakeholders to always compel effective information that will help in Marketing Uganda’s tourism.”

Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of Information Communication Technology and National Guidance, reaffirmed the government's steadfast commitment to funding  tourism infrastructure across Uganda.

He encouraged stakeholders to brace themselves for an era of unprecedented growth and development within the tourism sector.

“As government we are going to commit ourselves in making sure that all tourism infrastructure is improved across the country. I want to call on all the stakeholders to be ambassadors of Uganda’s tourism," Baryomusi says.

The crowning of the Miss & Mr. Tourism Kigezi is scheduled for July 6, 2024.

Prospective contestants are  expected to express interest until May 30, 2024.
