Ibanda: UCE Examinations Kick Off Without Incident
By 7:30am, school gates were open, and students were seen revising their notes, making use of the final moments before the exams began.
The Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams have kicked off smoothly across various schools in Ibanda District, with students eagerly arriving early to begin their first papers.
By 7:30am, school gates were open, and students were seen revising their notes, making use of the final moments before the exams began.
At Mwamba Secondary School, Head Teacher Constantino Abenawe reported that the examination materials arrived on time, allowing for a prompt and organized start.
“The examination materials were brought in time, and candidates were already waiting to receive them,” said Abenawe.
Similarly, at Citizens High School, the atmosphere was calm and conducive for exams. Notices with the message, "UCE in Progress, Observe Maximum Silence" were prominently displayed across the school compound, reminding everyone of the importance of maintaining a quiet environment.
“These writings on manila papers help to caution others to maintain a quiet environment for the candidates to concentrate,” explained Betty Nasasira, the head teacher of Citizens High School.
At Ibanda Progressive Secondary School, students displayed unity and faith by coming together for joint prayers and songs before the exams, a gesture that showcased their solidarity and mutual support.
Henry Kanyandago, the head teacher of Ibanda Progressive, also confirmed a smooth start to the exams.
Despite concerns over potential disruption from rain due to the ongoing rainy season, the process went ahead without issues.
“We expected the process to be sabotaged by rain, but fortunately, that didn’t happen. Exams reached here in time,” Kanyandago said.
The seamless start to the UCE exams in Ibanda reflects the dedication and preparation of both students and school administrators. As the exams continue, maintaining this momentum will be key to ensuring a secure and fair examination process.
According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), the UCE exams, which began today, will conclude on 15th November 2024.
