Senior Police Officer Rejects Bribe in Pader, Suspect Arrested

A senior police officer in Pader District, Detective Corporal Isaac Kikoba, has rejected a bribe and ensured the arrest of a suspect attempting to interfere with an ongoing investigation.
The suspect, Emmanuel Oyera Otto, 38, allegedly offered Shs230,000 to Corporal Kikoba in an attempt to "kill" a case under investigation.
Instead of accepting the bribe, Kikoba reported the incident to his superiors, leading to Otto’s arrest.
Police authorities commended Kikoba's actions, highlighting his adherence to ethical standards and the Uganda Police Force’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
"This incident demonstrates our commitment to fighting corruption within the force and in society," said a statement from Pader police.
Corruption remains a challenge in Uganda, with individuals often attempting to bypass the judicial process through bribery.
Authorities in Pader have vowed to maintain vigilance against such attempts, emphasizing that no one is above the law.
