Fear Grips Kasangati as Machete-Wielding Men Attack

Residents of Kabubbu Village in Kasangati Town Council are living in fear after machete-wielding men attacked the area councillor, Katongole Buddalah, on Wednesday night.
The incident, which left Katongole nursing serious injuries, has heightened concerns about safety in the community.
Katongole, who represents Kabubbu Ward on the Kasangati Town Council under the NRM ticket, recounted the harrowing experience.
Speaking from a health facility in Kabubbu, he said the attackers broke into his house at around 3:00 a.m., smashing a window to gain entry.
“They found me asleep in bed and cut my arm. I tried to defend myself and made an alarm, which scared them off,” Katongole said.
Residents are baffled by the motive behind the attack, as nothing was stolen from Katongole’s house.
His spouse, who preferred to remain anonymous, explained that they only heard noises when the assailants attempted to break in.
The attackers fled through the window when the couple raised an alarm, leaving behind tools including a hammer, chisel, and a hoe.
Kasangati Town Council Mayor, Tom Muwonge, condemned the attack and called for swift action from security agencies.
“This attack is not the first of its kind. Such incidents are common in Kabubbu. Security must hasten investigations into this spate of crimes,” Muwonge urged.
Other local leaders and residents have expressed alarm over the rising crime in the area.
Despite efforts to alert police immediately after the incident, residents claim officers failed to respond promptly.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security measures to curb growing insecurity in the Kampala metropolitan area and beyond.
