According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, preliminary findings indicate that Mutebi killed his dad after misunderstandings.
“Police from Katabi received information of a person who had been killed from his house and upon reaching the scene, the deceased’s body was found in a pool of blood,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police say an interaction with neighbours indicated that they were suspecting the deceased’s first born Nicholas Mutebi for whom he had rented a house elsewhere after developing misunderstandings.
Owoyesigyire said when police proceeded to Mutebi’s rented house, he was arrested and taken to Entebbe Police Station where upon interrogation, he confessed to the murder.
“The suspect said he had got misunderstandings with his dad( deceased) and that at around 2am, he sneaked into his dad’s room with a sharp knife and stabbed him to death and later threw the knife and clothes he was in in a pit latrine,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police said the suspect is currently detained at Entebbe Police Station as investigations into the matter continue, noting that the 21 year old has been charged with murder.
Owoyesigyire said statements have been recorded from the sister and other children of the deceased while the body has been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination.
