Wakiso Traditional Healer Arrested Over Aggravated Defilement

Yusuf Waggama, who is a traditional healer and the victim's stepfather, instructed his wife to sleep in his shrine last November, and he defiled the minor.
Police in Entebbe are investigating a case of aggravated defilement involving a minor, allegedly committed by her stepfather in Wakiso District.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, confirmed that Sharone Ninstima, a resident of Kamunye Cell in Kasanje Town Council, reported her 40-year-old husband, Yusuf Waggama, who is a traditional healer and the victim's stepfather.
According to police, the alleged incidents took place in November 2024. Waggama reportedly instructed his wife to sleep in his shrine, leaving him alone with the minor.
“It is alleged that he sexually assaulted the victim on three separate occasions without her consent,” Onyango said.
One of the incidents reportedly occurred after Waggama fought with his wife, prompting her to leave their home.
The victim's mother became concerned after noticing her daughter's weakness and sought medical attention for her.
“A medical examination revealed that the minor was pregnant,” Onyango said.
Police have since arrested Waggama to aid in the investigation. His extra-judicial statement has been also been recorded and attached to the case file.
