It is school fees time as the second term of the academic calendar year begun on Monday, May 27.

Though some parents continue ponder where to get the much needed financial resource to send their children to school, a jilted parent in Namayingo District has burnt his daughter over fees request.

Henry Sida, 43, a resident of Dohwe Village in Buhemba Subcounty, has been arrested and detained for burning his daughter's fingers.

It is alleged that the father got incensed when his daughter only identified as Nabwire asked for school fees to go back for term two.

It is alleged that Sida abandoned his responsibilities as a father when he separated with his children’s mother.

Namayingo Deputy Resident District Commissioner Solomon Baleke confirmed Sida’s detention.

Sida’s alleged criminal act came to light after the area LCI chairperson Charles Makhulo reported the matter to the district authorities.

“We got a tip off from the area LCI chairman, Charles Makhulo, after Sida had burnt his child, and we went for him,” Baleke said.

Baleke said the security team who apprehended the suspect also took the victim to Buyinja Health Centre IV, where she was admitted.

He says investigations have started, promising that Sida will be arraigned in court soon.
