On May 15, 2024, the Bank of Uganda will be auctioning off a 15 year treasury bond - UG12K1405378.

This bond comes with a 16% coupon rate, offering an attractive investment opportunity with an expected yield of around 15.8% plus on the settlement date of May 16, 2024.

Alex Kakande a financial analyst says that Investing in bonds is a smarter and better way to grow your wealth with reduced risk and lower capital needed.

“You can start with as low as shs100,000 and as high as shs200 million for the non competitive bids that are fully guaranteed to be awarded for retail investors. “

For tax planning, the 15 year treasury bonds attract only 10% withholding tax.

It is also essential to open an account with any commercial bank you bank with and this will be your custodian bank.

One can still  open up a  CSD account with any other bank and fund the account for Bond Investments.
