Socialite Don Nasser committed to High Court over defilement, human trafficking

Buganda Road Magistrates Court has committed to High Court socialite Don Nasser, real name Nasser Nduhukire to face trial over human trafficking,  and defilement.

The socialite who was on the run for several months was in September arrested from Kenya and charged with human trafficking and defilement.

On Monday, when he returned to court for mention of his charges before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi, state attorney Ivan Kyazze told court that investigations into the matter had been completed and asked that case is committed to High Court for trial.

Consequently, the chief magistrate gave a greenlight to the committal.

The case

Don Nasser was slapped with   two charges of aggravated trafficking of a minor for sexual exploitation and defilement.

The state alleges that in May this year, Mr Nduhukire, together with others still at large, used his influence to entice young girls, especially students, into sexual exploitation, drug abuse and pornography which is aggravated trafficking in children contrary to section 2(1) (a ) of the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act .

He is accused of transporting a 16-year-old girl from Tagore Apartments along Acacia Avenue in Kampala and harbouring her at his residence in Kito Zone in Kira Division for four days between May 23 and 27 this year.

According to the charge sheet, Nduhukire had sex with a 6 year old girl which is defilement contrary to section 116(1) of the Penal Code Act as well as procuring defilement contrary to section 120(1) (a) of the Penal Code Act when he procured a 16 year old girl to have sex with her .

Mr Nduhukire and his co-accused denied the charges.
